NSW: No scientific basis for banning pregnant women from sport

SYDNEY, June 11 AAP - There was no scientific basis for banning pregnant women from
elite-level non-contact sports, a leading obstetrician said today.
Australian Medical Association (AMA) federal vice president Trevor Mudge said Netball
Australia's (NA) plan to ban pregnant women from competition was not medically sound.
"There is no association between physical activity and premature labour or miscarriage,"
he told AAP.
NA president Sue Taylor plans to recommend that Sport Industry Australia impose a blanket
ban on all female sports bodies, aimed at stopping ...
