Fed: Recommendations won t end electoral fraud Beattie

BRISBANE, June 18 AAP - Measures to stamp out electoral fraud recommended by a federal
parliamentary committee would not work, Queensland Premier Peter Beattie said today.
A federal parliamentary inquiry into the electoral roll today tabled its final report,
calling for tougher penalties for electoral fraud, more requirements on voter identification
and for the rolls to be closed the day the election is called.
But Mr Beattie, who last year weathered a damaging scandal over allegations of vote-rigging
