NSW: Riot breaks out in front of parliament house

A blockade of New South Wales Parliament House by unionists angered over the state
government's workers compensation legislation has erupted in violence.

About 500 protesters clashed with almost as many police as a procession of Labor MPs,
surrounded by police on foot, marched down Macquarie Street and into the House.

They were coming from a Caucus meeting in Governor Macquarie Tower.

Lower House speaker JOHN MURRAY was jostled earlier when he became the first Labor
MP to break through the picket line and enter the building.
