Fed: Gosper gives informal support to Beijing for 2008 games

MELBOURNE, June 28 AAP - International Olympic Committee vice-president Kevan Gosper
has given informal support to Beijing in its bid for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The IOC will vote in Moscow on July 13 to decide which city will host the games, from
a shortlist consisting of Beijing, Paris, Toronto, Osaka and Istanbul.

"I think Osaka and Istanbul are hard pressed," Mr Gosper told ABC radio.

"The other three got an excellent vote by the evaluation commission."

Mr Gosper indicated a preference for the Chinese capital.

"I certainly think Beijing has got a strong claim," he said.
