Article: Old and rare books thrive in Denmark

UNLIKE the vast majority of Malaysians who only read an average of two
pages a year, according to a survey some time ago, most Danes are avid
readers and new titles, whether fiction or non-fiction, are eagerly snapped
up.

Another good indication is the fact that for a small country like
Denmark, there are at least 11 thriving bookshops within Copenhagen (and
several in the provinces) dealing in old and rare books.

These shops are members of the Danish Antiquarian Booksellers
Association which was founded in 1920. The association in turn is a member
of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers.
