Fed: Coalition support in marginal seats slumps

SYDNEY, July 7 AAP - Support for the federal coalition in marginal seats has slumped
over the past three months, the latest Newspoll shows.

And Prime Minister John Howard has fallen behind Opposition leader Kim Beazley in these
seats for the first time in a year.

In seats requiring a swing of less than 4 per cent, Labor's support has remained steady
at 44 per cent while coalition support has slumped from 36 to 32 per cent, the poll, published
in today's The Weekend Australian newspaper, shows.
