Colorado to release sex offenders
DENVER, Jul 24, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Colorado prisons will release 72 sex offenders by Wednesday after the state Supreme Court said the inmates had been improperly sentenced for parole violations.
"I am disappointed in the court's final ruling, but the state must now abide by that decision," Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar said.
Salazar appeared three times before the state's high court to argue that the sex offenders should be kept under parole supervision or, if they violated parole, be placed back behind bars, The Denver Rocky Mountain News reported.
