A total of 65 dairy farms in Jhenidah district are facing closure due to
various reasons.
According to owners of some dairy farms establishment of dairy farms
at private initiative has been encouraged by the government recently. But
no step has been taken up for supply of necessary fodder. The market price
of fodder has gone beyond the purchasing capacity of the dairy farm owners.
It is also learnt that the demand for fodder in the district has increased
greatly due to establishment of new dairy farms.
According to sources, a bag of wheat husk weighing 50 kgs is selling
at Tk 450 to Tk 500 while a few months back it was selling at Tk 350. The
