SOC: Premier league play down Old Firm switch

LONDON, July 30 Reuters - The English premier league has quashed the latest round of
suggestions that Celtic and Rangers - the "Old Firm" of Scottish soccer - are planning
to join the English competition in the next few years.
Responding to questions on the issue today, premier league spokesman Philip French
said: "No talks are taking place and we have no plans to have any. We have no plans to
change the structure of the league.
"We haven't even contemplated it to be honest."
The sport's world governing body FIFA also said a switch would be outside their rules
