(The South End) (U-WIRE) DETROIT -- Brian Wilson and his now-legendary music are back in the spotlight due to a Beach Boys resurgence that began in the mid- to late-'90s.

Although the phenomenon may not reach far into the mainstream, a number of cool acts admit an appreciation for the troubled songsmith. Look at Cornelius, Stereolab, St. Etienne, High Llamas, as well as more unlikely candidates like German pop/electronic experimentalists Mouse on Mars and Austrian guitar/glitch composer Christian Fennesz -- all acts that invoke Wilson in some manner.
