Cambodia Tribunal to Be Finalized

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) -- Cambodia's long-awaited legislation to establish a genocide tribunal for former Khmer Rouge leaders is expected to be signed into law by King Norodom Sihanouk next week, a senior government official said Wednesday.

The legislation, approved by the Constitutional Council on Tuesday, establishes the framework for a U.N.-assisted tribunal to try surviving Khmer Rouge leaders, blamed for the deaths of 1.7 million people during the late 1970s.
