Dr. David Avner of Syracuse, New York, is the president of a company
called Transgenic Pets--transgenic as in gene technology--which would
be used by the company in theory to create a cat that would not trigger
an allergic reaction in humans. The idea is to turn off the gene
that produces allergen proteins. If you're allergic to cats, your
problems would be over.
Dr. Avner, what's in it for the cat?
