Of the thousands of children who audition for professional track
ballet schools each year, only a fraction are accepted. And to be
told that your child's rejected for not having the right kind of body
is common. Most parents take this assessment in stride, since ballet'
s standards for proportion and thinness are well-known. But for one
parent in San Francisco, the body-type reason alone has prompted a
