Powerball Jackpot Reaches $280M
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Powerball retailers began bracing Thursday for another rush of ticket buyers as the jackpot grew to an estimated $280 million.
A wealthy Connecticut town will suspend sales Friday because out-of-state ticket buyers were causing congested streets and long lines, retailers said.
The jackpot for Saturday's drawing is the second highest in Powerball and third highest U.S. lottery jackpot ever. It rolled over Wednesday night after none of the tickets sold for that drawing matched.
