Article: Burck to resign as U. Texas System chancellor

(The Shorthorn) (U-WIRE) ARLINGTON, Texas -- University of Texas System Chancellor R.D. Burck announced Aug. 17 that he will step down as chancellor by Sept. 1, 2003. He said he is willing to serve part-time as a special adviser to both the UT Board of Regents and the new chancellor until Aug. 31, 2005.

In a letter to Board Chair Charles Miller, Burck called his resignation a natural step in an orderly plan of leadership succession. He made his decision public after an exchange of letters with Miller.
