Asian Nations Hope to Woo Traders

HANOI, Vietnam (AP) -- Asian nations, still largely sidelined economically after their financial crisis four years ago, hope to woo back European traders and investors at a meeting of economic ministers from the two regions next week.

Officials from 25 countries will discuss how to boost trade and investment ties to counter the recent global slowdown.

European nations will seek ways to boost their political and economic presence in Asia, while their Southeast Asian counterparts will try to draw global attention away from China and inside their own borders, analysts say.
