When reading "Banking umbilical cord blood" (Health, Page F-1, Aug.
13), I was saddened that the procedure has become a money-making
subject.
For years, blood banks have been working to get pregnant women to
donate their umbilical cord blood for research to cure diseases. When my
daughter was pregnant, I suggested she look into it. Her doctor stated
"it would be too much trouble and red tape to bother."
Why can't government funding be used for cord cell research by
making it easy for all pregnant ...
