Jack Kerouac (1922-1969) was a great American writer, but first, he was a French speaking Catholic Franco-American native of Lowell, Mass.

Paul Marion, 47, is also a resident of Lowell and director of Communications and Marketing for the University of Massachusetts Lowell. For the past 14 years, Marion has worked with others to organize the "Lowell Celebrates Kerouac" festival.
