(Badger Herald) (U-WIRE) MADISON, Wis. -- Years ago it was not uncommon to hear someone refer to women as "chicks" and "broads" without fear of being criticized. Those days are over.
Replacement terms have been substituted for many offensive words and phrases, fueling a trend known as political correctness.
Virginia Sapiro, University of Wisconsin political science and women's studies professor, said the term is often misunderstood.
"I have no idea what anybody means when they say political correctness," Sapiro said.
