NSW: Drowning deaths drop in NSW

SYDNEY, Oct 18 AAP - Drowning deaths have dropped to a record low in NSW, new figures show.

Royal Life Saving Society data released today show 73 people drowned last financial
year compared with 79 the year before.

In the past five years, drowning deaths have decreased by up to 20 per cent, its report said.

Of the deaths last year, 26 were in rivers, lakes and dams and 25 at beaches.
