(Daily Illini) (U-WIRE) CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard's solo debut Bayleaf is an exercise in style. And when it comes to style, Gossard really succeeds, showcasing enough variance to solidify his talent in melody writing, but at the same time never seeming to be without direction. Anybody expecting the new Pearl Jam album, though, should look elsewhere. While the sound of Bayleaf has enough in common with that of the seminal '90s rock band, it stands on its own, creating a nice, more laid-back atmosphere.
