RU: Ireland end England's grand slam dream

DUBLIN, Oct 20 AFP - England's Six Nations grand slam jinx struck again here today
as Ireland wrecked its hopes of a championship clean sweep with a battling performance
to clinch a deserved 20-14 win.

Ireland withstood a late English onslaught to hang on for victory, leaving Clive Woodward's
side denied a grand slam in its final match for the third year in a row to the delight
of a raucous Lansdowne Road crowd.

Ireland led 11-6 at halftime for its first win over England since 1994.

England's mood was summed up by inside-centre Mike Catt, who said Woodward's men only
had themselves to ...
