(The Setonian) (U-WIRE) SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- A special grand jury was selected and empaneled to consider arson and homicide charges relating to the Jan. 19, 2000, fire in Boland Hall that killed three Seton Hall University students and injured 58 others.

The 23 members of the grand jury were selected on Friday, Oct. 12, out of a pool of a hundred or so potential jurors, and the selection took several hours according to Charlotte Smith, the spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

The grand jury will also hear testimony to consider whether Seton Hall was responsible for a breach in safety procedures related to the incident.
