(Vanderbilt Hustler) (U-WIRE) NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Vanderbilt men's basketball head coach Kevin Stallings announced Thursday that sophomore guard Billy Richmond has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.

Richmond then withdrew from classes at Vanderbilt.

In 29 games last season, Richmond averaged 8.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

"Anytime you take a player off a team, you must fill a void," said senior guard Sam Howard. "The team must come together and not dwell on the dismissal."

No stranger to trouble, last semester, Richmond was involved in an altercation at a Nelly concert during the Rites of Spring.
