Only three local companies are known to have exported directly to Iraq,
a senior government source said yesterday, adding that the products were
all preapproved by the United Nations and none were chemical substances
that could be used in developing biological weapons.
The three firms - Chaiyaporn Rice Co, Ltd, Thai SD Marketing and PB
Intertrade Co, Ltd - are in the business of exporting food, sugar, medical
equipment and spare parts to Iraq, the source said.
"Any company wanting to do business with the Iraqi government has to
apply first to the UN panel that was set up under the 1990 UN resolution
