(The Quad) (U-WIRE) WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- West Chester University will implement a new housing policy for the 2002-2003 academic year by making all residence halls smoke-free.

Smoking will be prohibited everywhere in all residence halls as of Aug. 2002. Currently, five residence halls all have designated non-smoking floors.

The floors not currently designated smoke-free, students can smoke on. Over the past two years, this plan has been employed at three of West Chester University's eight residence halls. Dawn Pfeifer-Reitz, assistant director of housing, stated, "It's a good health perspective to have."
