(Daily Mississippian) (U-WIRE) OXFORD, Miss. -- What started out as a normal SEC matchup Saturday night in Oxford turned into one of the craziest games, and the longest game in college football history, as Arkansas outlasted Ole Miss 58-56 in seven overtimes in front of 47,464 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and a national television audience.
Trailing 58-50 in the seventh overtime, Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning found wide receiver Jessie Armstead open for a touchdown to trim the lead to 58-56. With the Rebels forced to go for two, tight end Doug Zeigler was stopped just short of the goal line to end the wild four hour and 15 minute game.
