NEW YORK (AP) _ Wall Street was in a holding pattern Tuesday as investors waited to see whether the Federal Reserve would cut interest rates for the 10th time this year.
In quiet, midday trading, the Dow Jones industrial average was off 15.78, or 0.2 percent, at 9,425.25, halting, at least temporarily, a two-day advance.
Broader stock indicators were also little changed. The Standard & Poor's 500 index dropped 1.45, or 0.1 percent, to 1,101.39, and the Nasdaq composite index was up 5.93 at 1,799.58, a gain of 0.3 percent.
