Argentine President Explains Plan to Bush
NEW YORK, Nov 11, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Argentine President Fernando de la Rua on Sunday promised U.S. President George W. Bush that his troubled country would stay the course on economic reform and would not ask the president to intervene with the International Monetary Fund.
After meeting with Bush as part of bilateral consultations held at the United Nations during its annual general assembly, de la Rua told reporters he had not come to New York "to ask for funding," but refused to provide any further details of his conversations with Bush and some of the administration's top aides.
