(The Daily Athenaeum) (U-WIRE) MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The West Virginia women's soccer team fell to No. 6 Notre Dame in the Big East Championship Game by a score of 2-1. It was the Mountaineers' first ever appearance in the title game. The Mountaineers punched their ticket in the championship game by knocking off No. 9 Connecticut on Friday (1-0).
The championship was a hard-fought battle between two hungry teams. West Virginia came into the game riding a seven-game winning streak, which tied a school record. Notre Dame was looking for yet another Big East trophy.
