Bush officials: bin Laden in Afghanistan
WASHINGTON, Nov 18, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- U.S. National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice said Sunday that the United States was confident alleged terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden remains in Afghanistan even as reports from the region indicate that he may have fled into neighboring Pakistan or to Chechnya.
"We have no reason to believe he is not in Afghanistan," Rice said during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Rice later told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that U.S military and anti-Taliban forces were tightening the noose around the Saudi exile. She said military forces were "narrowing" ...
