Qld: Fishing boat accident investigated
BRISBANE, Nov 19 AAP - Maritime safety officials expect to speak tomorrow with the
crew of a fishing boat struck by a coal ship off the central Queensland coast.
The crew of the fishing boat, Benjamin, told the Australian Maritime Safety Authority
(AMSA) they were struck by a Korean-registered bulk coal carrier at 3.30am (AEST) today
in the Swains Reef area, about 70 nautical miles from Mackay.
AMSA spokesman David Gray said officials would interview the crew when they returned
to Hervey Bay tomorrow and were also keen to talk with the Korean ship's captain.
