(Daily Nebraskan) (U-WIRE) LINCOLN, Neb. -- Albums labeled "greatest hits" always have problems. Bands too often try to fit 10 years' worth of evolution into a 15- to 20-song album, and the listener more often ends up tired rather than satisfied.
With the now defunct Smashing Pumpkins' latest double compact disc release, "Rotten Apples/Judas O," the band just tried too hard to please.
"Rotten Apples," the designated greatest hits half of the CD duo, delivers listeners a chronological glimpse of the Pumpkins from beginning to end, roughly 1988 to 2000.
