Coffee limits blood flow to brain
CHICAGO, Nov 27, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Drinking coffee or other caffeinated beverages impedes blood flow to the brain enough to affect research based on scans of brain activity, a new study said Tuesday.
"Caffeine constricts the blood vessels in the brain and that causes restrictions in blood flow" detectable on scans of blood flow in the brain, said lead researcher Aaron S. Field, a radiologist with the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
