Friday, December 7, 2001 -- German-based pharmaceuticals giant Merck KGaA said yesterday that it has acquired a minority stake in Beit Shemesh-based Sol-Gel Technologies Ltd.
Merck has also acquired the worldwide distribution rights to Sol-Gel's patented sunscreen product. Financial details of the transactions were not disclosed.
Sol-Gel has developed a technique that uses glass to create a sunscreen lotion. The tiny glass spheres contain chemicals that absorb dangerous ultraviolet (UV) radiation, causing less damage to the skin than existing ...
