Fed: Aust boat crew members lucky to survive stormy seas
SYDNEY, Dec 12 AAP - Three Australian crew members on a round-the-world sailing expedition
are lucky to be alive after massive seas swept them from their boat, a spokesman said
today.
Expedition spokesman in Sydney Rob Kothe said three crew members of the Australian
sailing vessel National Investment Institute were washed off the boat yesterday after
it hit waves up to 10 metres high.
The vessel had become caught in snow, hail and storms in the Southern Ocean, about
1600 nautical miles (3,000km) west of Cape Horn and close to Antarctica.
