FED: Govt commits $85 million to Burrup Peninsula project

BRISBANE, Dec 20 AAP - The federal government will commit $85 million to help a petrochemical
company build a $1 billion synthesis gas and methanol plant in Western Australia.

Resources Minister Ian Macfarlane said the plant would be established in the state's
north on the Burrup Peninsula, about 130km west of Port Hedland.

The investment incentive, along with $136 million committed by the WA government, will
be used by Methanex Corporation to develop multi-user infrastructure on the peninsula.
