FED: Govt commits $85 million to Barrup Peninsula project

The federal government will commit $85 million to help a multinational petrochemical
company establish a billion-dollar synthesis gas and methanol plant in Western Australia.

Resources Minister IAN MACFARLANE says the $1 billion plant will be established in
the state's Pilbara region on the Burrup Peninsula, near Dampier, 1500 km north of Perth.
