PORTLAND-- Samuel "Sam" A. Mangino, age 75, of Euclid Ave, Portland, died Wednesday morning at a local hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in St. Alban's, Vt., the son of Camillo & Antoinette Aceto Mangino.
He moved to Portland at age 3 where he attended Portland schools, graduating from Portland High School Class of 1944. While at Portland High, Sam was known for his athletic ability in football, serving as captain of the football team for 4 years, and was named to Allstate Football in 1944.
