Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts plans to open a hotel in Chiang Mai
within four years, said Bernold Schroeder, vice president of business development
at Banyan Tree Bangkok.
The company is looking for sites in Chiang Mai for a 50- to 100-room
hotel, Schroeder said. It would be the company's third hotel in Thailand.
The company wants a presence in Chiang Mai because it is one of the most
popular destinations among foreign tourists and business travelers, Schroeder
said.
"We've surveyed tourist destinations and found that Chiang Mai is one
of the favorite places to go apart from Phuket. If we have our own property
