Dateline: AMSTERDAM, Netherlands The entire board of directors and the general manager of the troubled Dutch national railway company Wednesday announced their resignations, citing arguments with the government about punctuality targets.

The leadership of the railway company told a news conference in the central town of Utrecht late Wednesday that the seven members of the supervisory board and the company's chief Hans Huisinga would resign with immediate effect.

Jan Timmer, the president of the supervisory board, said the decision was taken unanimously after Transport Minister Tineke Netelenbos demanded that Huisinga be sacked.
