Kim Dae Jung was elected president of South Korea on Dec. 19, the first opposition candidate to win the presidency since the country was founded in 1948. In his first one-to-one interview since the election, he spoke Sunday with Bernard Krisher, publisher of The Cambodia Daily. Mr. Krisher, a former Tokyo bureau chief for Newsweek who has covered Mr. Kim's political career for nearly three decades, conducted the interview for the International Herald Tribune.
