SYDNEY, Jan 4 AAP - The two Erickson Air-Cranes stuck in the United States due to a snowstorm were likely be in Australia by Monday night, according to the company that leases the aircraft.

The giant Antonov cargo plane hired to fly the two helitankers to Australia has been stuck at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport due to a snowstorm.

It was feared the snowstorm would delay the arrival of the air- cranes - with the capacity to dump 9,000 litres of water on fires - until mid-week.
