Dateline: LONDON The old adage that money cannot buy happiness is wrong _ but you need a lot of it to be euphoric, according to research published Tuesday.

As far as age is concerned, the decade-long study of 9,000 families in Britain found happiness follows a U-shaped pattern. People start life happy but drift into discontent in their early 30s, before their happiness recovers and continues increasing into their 60s.
