Omni Hotel in downtown Austin, filmmaker Guillermo del Toro initially
isn't too concerned with whether or not a sneak audience for his film,
The Devil's Backbone, found the deep political roots of the film'
s storyline intellectually stimulating. He wants to know if it effectively
scared the crowd out of their seats. "Did people jump?" he asks. They
did. "Good, that's good," he beams.
