Sukhoi nabbed a deal with Brazil's Avibras Industria Aeroespacial on
Monday
to farm out components for its Su-35 fighter jets, giving it a big
boost
toward trumping a coveted $700 million Brazilian air force tender.
The deal was announced on the sidelines of a visit by Brazilian
President Fernando Henrique Cardoso with President Vladimir Putin
in the
Kremlin.
"We are working together with Sukhoi on plans of co-production in
Brazil," Avibras president Joao Verdi Carvalho Leite said Monday night
in a telephone interview. "Our company's share will consist of integration
of parts and manufacture."
