Golf: International stars dominate Asian tour qualifying school
MALACCA, Malaysia, Jan 19 AFP - The attractions of the increasingly
lucrative Asian
golf tour were underlined on Saturday when an American, an Australian
and a Japanese finished
top of the final qualifying school for the 2002 season.
American Jim Johnson edged out Australian Terry Pilkadaris with
a final hole birdie
to finish top of the class on his first trip to Asia.
The 36-year-old Johnson holed a 10-foot birdie chance on the final
green to pip Pilkadaris
at the Orna Golf and Country Club.
He mixed four birdies against a lone bogey for a closing three-
under-par 69 and a 282 aggregate.
