Dateline: NEW YORK Pharmaceutical companies spend so much time feuding with generic firms over patents that a bit of industry solidarity might be expected on certain issues. Wrong.

Schering-Plough Corp. said Thursday it filed lawsuits in U.S. District Court in Newark, N.J. against divisions of Johnson & Johnson and American Home Products Corp alleging their separate applications to sell over- the-counter versions of Claritin infringes on the patents of the widely popular allergy drug.

Schering has filed 18 other patent infringement suits against generic companies over Claritin.
