NSW: Lauer frozen out by government after defamatory article

SYDNEY, Feb 4 AAP - Former NSW police commissioner Tony Lauer was
snubbed by his successor
Peter Ryan, overlooked for official engagements and not consulted
by the premier about
policing initiatives, a court was told.
At a damages hearing in the NSW Supreme Court today, Mr Lauer said
he was forced to
retire almost six years into the job because an article in The Sydney
Morning Herald in
1995 had led to him being "frozen out" by the government.
The claims were made during the second leg of Mr Lauer's action
against the newspaper
and former Liberal Party figure Gary ...
