(Daily O'Collegian) (U-WIRE) STILLWATER, Okla. -- Food poisoning is something that happens to most people in modern society.

"Food poisoning is a generic term that describes symptoms that a human could experience caused by an agent in the food which is harmful," said Bill Ryan, assistant professor and associate director of the school of hotel and restaurant administration.

According to the Oklahoma Poison Control Center's 2001 annual report, 7 percent of the cases of poisoning during the last year were due to food poisoning.
